Where Would Kiki Go: New York Part 2

Guide to New York

Hello New York! So I just got back from fashion week a few days ago and while I didn’t have too much time to explore, I did have time to eat (well sort of). I’m going to spill a few of my favorite go-to places from this trip. Let me know if you’ve been to any and what you thought! Read on for my guide to New York Part II. You can read my first Where Would Kiki Go: Guide to New York here.

Where to eat bagels: Murray’s Bagels

There’s honestly nothing like the bagels in New York but Murray’s Bagels is one of my favorites. It’s located in Chelsea and is sort of deli style. My go-to order is a scooped out everything bagel with low-fat cream cheese (tbh I can’t remember if they have low-fat or not), lox, onions and capers and of course an iced vanilla almond milk latte. That’s basically always my go-to bagel order but it’s particularly good at Murray’s.

Where to eat sushi: Momoya

We all know I’m a sucker for sushi but I’m pretty picky about it. I went to Momoya and ordered a bunch of different things and everything was amazing and really fresh but my favorite dish was the spicy tuna crispy rice. I feel like you can tell a lot about a sushi restaurant by how good their spicy tuna crispy rice is and that’s a good sign for Momoya. They don’t take reservations (Sugarfish vibes much) but it’s totally worth it.

Where to eat sushi: BONDST

I really liked the vibe at BONDST. It was super busy but in a good way and they have an upstairs and downstairs level. I thought the cocktails were great too. The sushi was amazing and they had a few other non sushi options on the menu too which is always perfect if there’s someone in your group that doesn’t like sushi.

Where to have low-key but cool drinks: Crosby Street Hotel

I went to Crosby Street Hotel to catch up with a few friends that I haven’t seen in a while and it was the perfect place for that. I loved the ambiance and they had a cute outdoor patio area too. It was a cool vibe but wasn’t so loud that you can’t actually have a conversation. It’s also an easy walk to BONDST. If I can do it, anyone can do it…

Where to have not as low key but still cool drinks: Vandal

After seeing Vandal all over Instagram I had to add it to my list to see what it was all about. Unfortunately we missed our dinner reservation because my NYFW obligations ran over but we still went for drinks. The bar was busy but we were able to find a seat which was perfect. The decor was super cool and the drinks were good too. I can’t speak to the food though unfortunately. Maybe next guide to New York City travel guide though.

Where to have pizza coming from someone who rarely eats it: &Pizza

It’s true… I rarely eat pizza/ am picky about the pizza I do eat. The truffle pizza at Craig’s for example, I could liveeee off of that (LA travel guide coming soon) but not all pizza is created equal. I love pizza that is super super thin like cracker thin and has really fresh ingredients and actual quality cheese. Nicole and I were starving after shooting all day and I randomly yelped somewhere and stumbled upon &pizza. The place is low-key but cool. You go up to the counter and order what you want or create your own and it’s ready by the time you pay. We started off with the moonstruck and one of the guys who worked there warned us that we would be back for a second pizza. Honestly everyone who worked there was above and beyond friendly. So we finished off the first pizza in like 5 minutes and of course went back up but this time we tried The OG. The fact that I just wrote that much about pizza says it all… check it out. It’s worth it.

Where to get the best blow out and hair treatment: Samuel Shriqui Salon

I’m going to be honest with you about two things. I’m super picky about blowout and I’ve never had a hair treatment that 100% blew me away well until now. I had an appointment at Samuel Shriqui Salon for the Kerastase Fusio-Dose treatment and a blow out. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the treatment but I heard amazing things so I thought I would give it a try. The treatment starts off with a small handheld machine that takes photos of your hair and analyzes it. They show you what your hair strands look like up close and explain the damage, dryness, etc. It was super cool to see what my hair looked like and to hear them explain why it looks the way it did. Based on the results they select your treatment and you go into another room for the actual treatment process. They have a wall of a bunch of different Kerastase tubes in different colors. My treatment color was green so they took it off the wall and actually created a formula specifically  for my hair. It was super cool! After letting it sit for a little, they rinsed my hair and I was off for my blowout. I was super surprised but I could actually see how much healthier my hair was even before it was blown out.

The stylist did such an amazing job on my blow out. She knew exactly what I wanted and just worked her magic. After the blowout was done I could literally run my fingers through my hair and it was so soft. I can’t remember the last time I actually felt like my hair was soft. I couldn’t believe how well this treatment worked especially after a blow out! I felt like my hair was so bounce and healthy. Bouncy is also a word I’ve never used to describe my hair unfortunately but after this treatment it was actually bouncy. I know with hair treatments it’s always a question of if it is worth it or not but this one definitely is!! Here’s a link so you can find out where you can get this done based on your zip code. Let me know if you try it! I would love to hear your thoughts!

That’s a wrap NYC! Well at least for this guide to New York. Let me know if you have a favorite New York spot that I should add to my list for next time.
