Wedding season is upon us and what to wear to a wedding seems like a more popular question than ever. I’m sure I’m not the only one with engagement announcements and wedding photos flooding my social media accounts. It’s so hard to figure out what’s “wedding appropriate” and what isn’t. Black tie, black tie optional… it can easily get overwhelming so I’ve broken it down into categories below.
One of my best friends got married a few weeks ago in Santa Barbara and the wedding was beautiful! I was in my friends bridal party so I wore this dress to the rehearsal dinner but honestly I could have dressed it up for the wedding too. I feel like it’s important to take into consideration the location of the wedding. This dress works for black tie optional but also has a Santa Barbara feel.
Steer clear from:
- Dresses that look like bridesmaid dresses
- White
- Red – I feel like there are exceptions on this though
- Cut outs
- Think about what the bride would want – Obviously still wear something that fits your style but think about if the bride would want you wearing something more conservative, toned down, all out, etc.
What I Wore: Dress: For Love and Lemons // Shoes: Steve Madden (similar) // Bag: Prada (go with something smaller like a clutch for a wedding though. I’ve linked to some options below)
