I feel like in the past week the weather has turned the corner and summer is officially here. Your summer staples will be the foundation for your seasonal wardrobe so I would go with pieces that can be styled different ways and worn separately. Today I’m sharing my two summer staples every wardrobe needs, this super cute pineapple t-shirt and denim jacket both Lucky Brand from Macy’s. I definitely think t-shirts and denim jackets are underrated items that can totally transform a wardrobe.
Never underestimate the power of a t-shirt. Of course t-shirts can be dressed up and down but the way you wear them can totally change the look. You’re probably thinking what is she talking about?? Hear me out though! If I were to have tucked in the t-shirt completely the look would have been totally different. Try it out these 4 ways the next time you put on a t-shirt and I promise you it’ll be a game changer. Here are all of the ways to wear a t-shirt:
- Tied up – simply just knot the shirt, up to you how tight or loose you do the knot based on how much skin you want to show. This is how I wore the t-shirt in this post
- Tucked in fully – love this look for a classic vibe. This works best with a belt and mid to highrise jeans
- Completely untucked – best for skinny jeans or a casual look with the shorts peeking out of the bottom
- The half tuck – this is probably the most common look. It’s good for day-to-day and is how I wear my t-shirts the majority of the time.
Since I’m wearing high-waisted white shorts, I decided to do the t-shirt tie up to help show off the waist of the shorts and showcase a different way to wear a traditional t-shirt. Beside how to style the t-shirt – I really love this one in particular because of the pineapples. I feel like pineapples are having a moment right now and I’m here for it. the coral color is a perfect summery shade without being too bright.
Layering is key especially in LA when the nights begin to cool off so this Lucky Brand denim jacket from Macy’s is the perfect summer staple for those cool summer nights or even when it gets a little chilly on the beach. I paired this with the pineapple t-shirt and white shorts. I can see this exact outfit with white pants instead of white shorts though for a more relaxed evening look. Of course you can wear this denim jacket over sundresses as well so it really is a great summer staple.
