Honestly I’m not a fan but I love a good theme so am I wearing a pink sweater and matching pink sneakers today? Absolutely. Valentine’s Day has never been something I liked whether I was single or in a relationship. It always seemed like a weird concept to force everyone to do romantic gestures on the same day. After a few bad experiences – it was really just the cherry on top of my anti-Valentine’s day cake. I would much rather someone do sweet things for me all the time or when they genuinely feel like it rather than doing them out of obligation. What if you wake up on Feb 14th and you’re not in a romance kind of mood? What if I want roses on another day instead? What if you want to buy your own roses on whatever day you want because self love is key? I’m also not a big fan of cheesy romantic gestures so all of these things happening on one day makes me nauseous. With that being said, I am a fan of white roses and anything that sparkles, etc but it doesn’t have to be Valentine’s Day for any of those things to happen. Since that was a seemless transition to rose beauty, let’s talk about the benefits of rose in beauty products.
This list is a combination of rose products that I use and love plus a few that have gotten great reviews that are on my list to try. I’m going to talk about the ones I use below and why they made the list. First things first though, why is rose oil so great in skin care?
Boscia did a great job describing the benefits so I’m going to share the below:
Rosehip Oil:
- Helps reduce pigmentation, hydrates, and repairs damage
- Helps promote cell turnover including vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin D and B-carotene, a form of vitamin A
- Helps repair skin damage by promoting restoration of elasticity and collagen
Rose Oil (Bulgarian Rose):
- Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation
- Helps increase collagen production and leaves the skin soft and supple
- Helps in improving skin texture
FACE: The ingredient description above is for the Rosehip Omega Face Oil. It’s one of Boscia’s new products and so far I’ve been loving the results. I’ve been using it for the past few weeks and love how my skin looks and feels.
HAIR + BODY: This product right here deserves a few extra stars! My new go-to has been the Ouai rose hair and body oil. It smells like fresh-cut roses and whenever I use it my boyfriend immediately comments at how good I smell. I’ve been using it on the ends of towel dried hair when I get out of the shower and it makes my hair so soft and smells amazing. I actually remember to put it on because it smells so good that I can’t wait to use it. It’s great on the pieces of hair around my face when they feel really dried out/ damaged. You can also use it as body oil as well but I’ve only tried it on my hair so far. I’ll have to use it on my body too and let you know what I think.
BODY/ PERFUME: Another one of my favorite rose products on the list is the Goutal Paris Rose Pompon. I wear this scent everyday because it smells so fresh but it’s also really lightweight. It’s the perfect everyday scent because it isn’t overpowering but it’s just enough that you’re like “wow she smells good.” I don’t know how else to describe it other than that it smells like roses.
LIPS: I’ve been using Smith’s Rosebud Sauve in the can and the tube form since high school. It’s just a good classic to have in your beauty routine. It helps keep your lips hydrated and has a very slight color so it’s a great neutral.
LIPS: Another rose product that I like for my lips is Sugar Petal by Fresh. This option is between a lip stick and a sauve like the one above. It provides just enough color without going all out in a lipstick but is also hydrating and smooth.
