I wanted to talk about how to wear neon because believe it or not, it’s just going to get more popular as we get closer into spring. Neon isn’t something you should be hesitant about wearing because you can go as bold as you feel comfortable with. There are also a few “new” neon shades that I’ve noticed that are part of this neon trend that are more toned down. Let’s get into how to wear neon though.
Add neon to an otherwise classic piece:
The trick to how to wear neon is adding the neon color to an otherwise classic and understated piece. The statement is in the color so let that speak for itself so opt for pieces with a simpler design. Don’t go crazy on the neon – I would focus on one neon piece (not including shoes) in an outfit. Examples of simpler pieces are a neon sweater, the neon jacket I’m wearing in these photos or the dresses I linked below. Would I recommend wearing neon for an extra revealing outfit? No, you don’t want to give off Ultra/ rave/themed party vibes. The trick to how to wear neon is keeping the pieces simple and letting the color speak for itself.

If you opt for neon shoes – make sure they match:
I wasn’t sure if neon shoes would be overkill but it can pull together the whole look especially if the outfit is more casual like a neon sweater, jeans and neon shoes. If you are going to wear neon shoes and another neon piece though make sure that they are the same shade of neon. I’m sure there are exceptions to this but if your sweater is that neon highlighter color, your shoes should be too. I would also opt for neon shoes that aren’t too clunky so think lighter options or a pair with a little touch of neon.
