It’s time to start transitioning your wardrobe and this fall dress is the perfect laying piece to get you through the crisp months. It’s crazy to think that it’s almost October but fall is basically here and that means it’s time to freshen up your fall go-to pieces. I love dressing for fall because I feel like you can be more creative through layering and styling pieces differently. Every look needs a base or some kind of starting point though and in this case, that’s the fall dress I’m wearing from BCBGeneration.
This dress is a great start to your fall wardrobe because it works as a layering piece but also as a stand alone piece. The thicker material and overall color scheme makes it perfect for fall. It kind of gives me 60s mod vibes which I thought was really fun! I decided to wear it folded over a skinny belt just as a personal preference but you can also unbelt it for more of the a-line look too. Below are a few ideas on how to take this look into the colder months:
How to wear the fall dress into colder months:
- October: white ankle boots and/or sneakers, jacket around your shoulders
- November: tights, calf high boots and a cream-colored scarf, jacket on or around your shoulders depending on the temperature
- December: tights, knit ankle socks and those snow boots that are more like ankle boots with faux fur at the top than actual snow boots with the jacket on
No fall dress is complete without a jacket though. The jacket is the final touch that allows you to be able to pull off a fall dress look without being cold. I love the look of an oversized jacket and am obsessed with the color of this one from BCBGeneration. If you live somewhere that requires a real jacket, this one is so warm and cozy. I love the combination of the fall dress and jacket together – I feel like the red in the dress plays off the rose-colored jacket and it’s such a cool look. This jacket can be worn over the shoulders and actually on (novel idea right?) as well. I feel like this jacket is a good spiced up staple piece. It’s really attention grabbing but not so much so where you feel like you can only wear it a few times. This is one of those jackets that you can just throw it on and look really put together just with that one piece.
Fall is all about layering so when you’re looking for fall pieces look for ones you can easily create different looks with. This dress can start off your fall wardrobe but still take you into the cold months while the jacket is an elevated staple that you can wear multiple times. Both of these pieces are great fall essentials and the perfect way to start off your wardrobe.
