There are just some things you need to have as an adult and apparently a cute umbrella (even in LA) is one of them. In the past few weeks I had to walk into both a PR pull and the office looking like a drowned rat multiple times. You know it’s bad when your jeans get soaked.
I was taking my sweet time thinking the rain would stop until I woke up this morning to an Apple Weather screen filled with rain clouds and that was it. I ordered a cute umbrella. Thanks to Amazon I will be receiving my super cute umbrella by friday. Why did it take me so long? Honestly great question. I was kind of convinced that the rain would stop and I’m also really maxed out on space so the last thing I need to do is buy an umbrella that I’m never going to use. Have I “Marie Kondoed” yet? No. Should I? definitely. Also the idea of ordering an umbrella just seemed boring to me until I did a little reasearch and found a bunch of surprisingly cute options. Who knew umbrellas could be so chic?
I used to have so many umbrellas that I loved when I lived in Charlotte and was in college. They were all monogrammed. I’m not kidding. I specially remember picking out the colors of my umbrella to match my dorm room. I was that girl. I also feel like this umbrella thing has been haunting me. I don’t know if you remember back in September NYFW when I got caught in the rain and had to beg a street vendor to hold his last one for me so I could “run” to the ATM to get cash. The photos above are with the umbrella I’m talking about. It didn’t make it back to LA because I didn’t have enough room in my suitcase and left it with the girls who were in New York for longer. Adulting is hard.
I ordered this super cute clear dome like umbrella from Amazon for under $20 which is always a win. I saw the Moschino one after I ordered this one though and kind of was conflicted. It’s under $100 if you’re really looking to up your rain game. I also linked to a Burberry one as well as one that has a similar pattern / plaid idea but isn’t Burberry. The actual Burberry one is the most expensive one on the list though – I’m 99% sure that all of the others are under $100. A lot of these umbrellas come in a bunch of different colors too. I just went with the same color family for aesthetic purposes but mostly all of them come in yellow, blue and other shades.
